Introducing updates to the packaging and operation of our Extraneal and Dianeal range of peritoneal dialysis solutions

 

 

 

Upcoming changes

  • We’re introducing a range of enhancements to the packaging and operation of our Extraneal and Dianeal peritoneal dialysis (PD) solutions, which are designed to make life on PD a little easier
  • The concentrations and dialysing effect of the new products remain the same as existing products
  • The bags are fully compatible with existing patient training and techniques so no significant clinical adjustments are needed
  • Our dedicated PD production site in Singapore will begin to supply Extraneal and Dianeal products to Australia and New Zealand

Easy Open Over Pouch

The lighter weight pouch features dual, deeper,  pre-cut tear slits, making it easier2 than ever to open

Cartons

Upgraded cartons

The new boxes are sturdy, with reinforced construction and are optimised for efficient stacking and storage. Green pull tabs on both ends make it easier to open.2

Changes

Bag

5L APD bag

With the new 5-litre bag, cartons will be more than 15% lighter, reducing the physical burden on the patient. Additionally, discarded solutions may be reduced, contributing to environmental sustainability.

Folding Memory

Reversed port folding memory

The port on our new bags now folds downwards instead of upwards. To maintain aseptic technique, place the bag label facing down to prevent the port from folding under.

Introducing our Singaporean production plant

  • Vantive-owned PD dedicated plant with world-class facilities
  • Opened in 1983, it has been supplying PD solutions / sets / machines to 36 locations for 40 years,
    supporting more than 63,000 patients globally
  • The same manufacturing facility has been producing ANZ PD sets and Homechoice Claria machines for many years
  • Has the relevant regulatory approvals in various countries globally including Australia and New Zealand
  • Operating at 75% capacity, this site offers expanded capacity to increase production and strengthen supply to meet the growing demands for PD solutions

When will these changes happen?

Patients will commence receiving the new products in mid-2025, with the transition continuing over several months. This will be a staggered process. During this period, patients may receive a mix of Vantive and Baxter products.

 

The transition is expected to finish by the end of 2025.
